Easter Sunday

Today is Easter Sunday the day that we celebrate the rising to new life of Jesus. If Jesus had just died and we found his tomb with bones and dust well then Jesus would have just been another deluded man who was punished for blaspheming God. The fact is that Jesus did rise from the dead and today death has lost its power over us. We are the Resurrection People.

Do you remember Ash Wednesday?  Forty days seemed like such a long period of time.  For my wife and I the time moved swiftly because as members of the choir at our church we spent long hours in practice.  It is lucky for us that we have a very Christian woman as the choir director. She has multiple talents and knows how to get the very best out of her choir members.  So the practices seemed to make lent simply fly by.  As you know from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday is forty days, Sunday's are not counted in the calculation.  Easter for many people has come and gone.  But for us the celebration is just getting started!  From Easter to Pentecost is fifty days.  So we had forty days to mourn over our sins and now we have fifty days to rejoice that Jesus has given us the ultimate victory.  "Death where is thy victory, Death where is thy sting?"    This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.

WE ARE THE RESURRECTION PEOPLE
