If Jesus says "Follow Me" Should I answer- "Who Me???"

Jesus went out along the sea.
MARK 2:13-17
All the crowd came to him and he taught them.
As he passed by, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus,
sitting at the customs post.
Jesus said to him, "Follow me."
And he got up and followed Jesus.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples;
for there were many who followed him.
Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that Jesus was eating with sinners
and tax collectors and said to his disciples,
"Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus heard this and said to them,
"Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."

You know, Jesus was not a very good businessman.  You can see that just because of the men he called to be his apostles.  They were a scruffy bunch at best.  The majority of them were fisherman from of all places Galilee which meant that they would be unsophisticated kind of the country bumpkin sort when you pitted them against those from the more tony towns such as Jerusalem. One was a zealot which meant that the Romans would not be pleased and one was a tax collector who probably did not have too many friends among the citizens Jesus was going to have to reach if His mission was going to be successful.  We look at the written history of these men and we can see that they failed Jesus every chance they got and what's more, they weren't even bright enough to edit out the parts where they failed, they left these in for all to see.

By uttering those two words, "Follow Me" Jesus bought for Himself endless trouble, or so it would seem to us.  In reality look at what the disciples did, as inept as they were.  They were given charge of Christ's kingdom on earth, the Church that He founded and they and their successors have kept it going for two-thousand years!  Not bad for a group that didn't have much in the way of talent, at least as the world would see it.

We have to remember that Jesus does not make mistakes or errors.  You do know what the difference between a mistake and an error is don't you?  A mistake is the result of carelessness on your part while an error is a mistake that has been carefully planned and executed!  Seriously, when Jesus calls one of us, He knows what He is getting into.  In fact, He is depending on our failings to manifest themselves.  When they do, His power will shine through and you will learn that you can do more with His strength than by just relying on your own.

It is a scary thing to be called by Jesus to do some task.  First of all, it is not like you receive a letter in the mail from Him and sometimes the task seems too hard or too complex for you to do.  At those times your only recourse is to step into the task and to let Jesus guide your hands. Some of us have the call to great things, some of us are called to do little things.  Little things or great things, we are all called to do something. When you are called, be like the Apostles, drop what you are doing, give yourself away and follow Him.

I am very passionate about the Poor Souls in Purgatory because I know that I have been called in a special way to minister to them because they are my true brothers and sisters and they need my help for they cannot help themselves. I realize that there will come a day when I will need the prayers of those I leave behind for as they are today, Tomorrow perhaps I shall be.

Please, pray for the Poor Souls, they will be eternally grateful.
