Feed One Person, Clothe one person, start at home.

“Whoever receives you receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward,
and whoever receives a righteous man
because he is righteous
will receive a righteous man’s reward.
And whoever gives only a cup of cold water
to one of these little ones to drink
because he is a disciple– amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.”

Kindness is everything.  When we are kind to another we are stepping outside ourselves, giving of ourselves and taking care of our brothers and sisters as we have been taught by Jesus.

When we think of taking care of the poor, for example, our vision expands and we see so many of them and we look at our pitiful resources and realize whatever we do will mean very little in the long run.  Jesus is telling us that we should not always look in such sweeping vistas for the group of people known as the poor starts right outside your door with an old man with no one to smile at him until you come up to him and do so.  And the millions of hungry people, we can do squat to solve that problem, but the child that needs a meal, or the old lady living alone in our building that we can do something about.

Everything that is good and everything that is bad starts right outside our door.  Fix problems one at a time as they come to you.  If one million of us did this today, one million people would be helped and it all starts with one person learning and providing the needs of another.

The poor souls in Purgatory are our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and friends. There are also untold millions of souls that have no one to pray for them because they were good people who happened to come from the Protestant tradition and they never believed in Purgatory so their relatives do not pray for them.  Please do not forget these people. Do not let your love stop at the lip of the grave. The prayer of St. Gertrude is shown above.  This prayer said devoutly, will release a thousand souls from Purgatory.  There is no limit to how many times you can pray this prayer is a day.  Please take a moment now, and form the intention and pray the prayer for the poor souls.
